Personality :

Lian would describe himself as FAAABULOUS! Anyone else would call him a conceited hedonist. The wizard-in-training is completely full of himself and is firmly grounded in the belief that he is the gods' gift to the world. He is prone to treating himself richly and has no sense of abstinence or humility. Lian is not above manipulating others nor is he against participating in the occasional debauchery or mischievous act.

Additionally, Lian has developed a deep seeded superiority complex that encompasses the majority of his personality. Unfortunately, most only get to see the pompous and pretentious side of Lian. Because of this, his relationships usually suffer or end long before they develop into serious friendships. Lian is snobbish and brazen to those he sees as lower than himself (which is most everyone). However, once you gain his respect, Lian considers those he is close with to be on the same level as himself... or at least close to the same level. To anyone who loses his friendship, they will wish they had never met him. He has a book of curses just for such occasions! Aside from his arrogance, Lian has a knack for causing drama and a perverted streak as large as a Buffamoo. Just as he claims he is the sole virtuoso of the magic world, he also considers himself one of the finest catches around. He is not above boldfaced flirtation.

Lian does not like disappointing others or appearing weak in anything. As a matter of fact, his ego often becomes even more exaggerated when he is put into an awkward position or is faced with something he is not good at. He is prone to boasting even when he knows that he lacks the skills he is claiming to have. Due to this fact, Lian often hides his embarrassment over his magic abilities by putting up a front and claiming that he is “the best”. With this in mind, one should think twice before they accept a demonstration of Lian’s skills. A wish for a rainy week could very well end up being the end of your crop.


History :

The Sinclair family prides itself in the fact that it has bred numerous generations of wizard prodigies from its clean bloodline. Lian is the 23rd generation to be born into the family. Like any other boy in the Sinclair family, he was treated to a decadent lifestyle with the promise that one day he would become an outstanding wizard and gather celebrity for his lineage, like so many others had done before him. Never having to learn the word "no", Lian was doomed to be a haughty epicure at an early age.

As Lian approached age 13, he was being prepared to complete a ritual that would allow him to become a "man" and fully enter the domain of the black arts among the other members of his family. The boy thought he was prepared on the night of his induction. Lian felt pride in his untapped abilities. Moreover, the family name stood behind him as a pillar of support. He was constantly told that he would be one of the greatest wizards in the village. Lian believed that notion with every fiber of his being! The exhilarating words of success chimed in his ears as he approached the rune inscribed alter that would lead him to his much awaited destiny.

It came as a shock to everyone when Lian managed to blow the alter up with his first attempt at magic. His kinsfolk were stunned at the fact that Lian seemed to lack of the inherent magic skill that had been bred into the family for so long. The incident was an embarrassment to the whole household and was quickly marked out of the Sinclair’s history. From that point on, it was the family's goal to ensure that their newest heir would live up to their expectations and develop his magic abilities properly. Lian was immediately sent off to study magic abroad on the family's dollar under the alias that he had decided to go on a “scholarly expedition” after his coming of age ceremony.

Lian’s travels have led him to take residence in a town on Lucine Island, away from his lavish home life and his own bustling village. Most others would feel dejected at the flow of events that took place. However, Lian does not particularly dislike his current investments. He rather enjoys the lack of a chaperone. With no one to monitor his actions, Lian does not bat an eyelash at the idea of spending his family’s fortune on whatever frivolous needs cross his mind. Lian spends most of his day serving his own needs: drinking, gossiping, and shopping. His training in magic may seem halfhearted at best; yet, somewhere deep down, Lian truly does want to fulfill his clan’s desires and become a renowned wizard.
